The next step of faith after salvation is baptism. Baptism demonstrates your obediance to Christ Jesus.
Who is to be baptized? You are to be baptized if you already have trusted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, if you know that baptism is a symbol of what Jesus has done for you and is an expression of obediance to Christ, and if you are not ashamed to follow Christ's example. Baptism is not what saves you; it is a result of your salvation experience.
We believe in baptism by immersion...the water (Acts 8:38)...being "buried" in the water and being raised from the water (Romans 6:4 and Colossians 2:12)...coming out of the water (Mark 1:10 and Acts 8:39). Only a submerged body can represent death and burial. Only then can it be a picture of being raised to walk in a new life.
We believe in baptism with the church. New Testament believers were publicly baptized before other followers of Christ.
"Those who gladly received his word (about Jesus) were baptized." Acts 2:41
"We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." Romans 6:4 |
